Double Header Book Launch at Bethesda Writer’s Center
Two New Voices, One Special Afternoon at Bethesda Writer’s Center
We’re delighted to share that two remarkable authors are joining forces for a double book launch event that promises to be inspiring, intimate, and unforgettable.
This event brings together two distinct literary voices whose work stands out for its emotional depth and lyrical precision. Claudia’s Time and Other Solvents explores memory, loss, and the hidden chemistry of everyday experience. Rod’s Birds Flew In weaves vivid imagery with narratives that hover between the familiar and the uncanny.
Both authors will read from their new books, share insights into their creative process, and take questions from the audience. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with writers whose work is gaining attention for its craft, passion, and originality.
We hope you’ll come out to support these authors and engage with fellow readers in a cozy, welcoming setting.

About the Authors
Sligo Creek Publishing is proud to present Claudia Gary’s first full-length poetry collection. Gary is a well-known DC area poet and teacher, known for her gentle wit and humor. This collection is a sort of autobiography in verse. Its running themes include her relationship with a mother who suffered from depression (and the after-effect of its treatment), and her overcoming an eating disorder.
Rod Deacey, front-man and lyricist of The DC Beats, brings his jazz sensibility to this delightful chapbook. And yes, a wide array of birds abound in its pages.
Why You Should Attend
